A Cost-Effective Solution for Integrating External Systems
This is great news!
The Integration User License was recently announced by Salesforce during the Salesforce Developer Conference, TrailblazerDX, and will be available for use starting on March 14, 2023. This is a brand-new license type created especially for use in system-to-system integrations. It offers enterprises a cost-effective and streamlined way to integrate their external system with Salesforce.
Prior to this release, organizations were required to purchase a full Salesforce license for each integration user; this could be very costly, especially when multiple integration users were needed (as is often recommended as best practice). As a result of this new announcement from Patrick Stokes, EVP & GM Platform Salesforce, five free Salesforce Integration User Licenses will be available per org in the Performance, Enterprise, and Unlimited editions. The cost of each additional license is $10.
The additional benefit here is that the Integration User also represents a more secure option, as users with this license cannot access the instance’s functionality or data through the user interface. This reduces the risk of unauthorized access and protects sensitive data. Previously for many organizations the cost of a dedicated user license made this a difficult decision, but now it can be done for free.
