Digital Skills for Women 2020

Digital Skills for Women is a non-profit learning cohort created by women for women aimed at female professionals who do not have experience in the tech/digital/IT industry. Powered by Digital Nova Scotia and Sponsored by CloudKettle, this cohort is designed to help participants learn more about industry-related topics, the ecosystem, and career opportunities. The purpose of Digital Skills for Women is to help participants build confidence, learn industry language, and ultimately leave better positioned to explore and enter a career in digital/tech/IT.

The curriculum for each cohort will be slightly different based on the feedback we get from the applications and the cohort group. We’ll be bringing in women experts to lead each session.

Who:

Digital Skills for Women is for female professionals who do not have experience in the tech/digital/IT industry and are interested in learning more about industry-related topics, the ecosystem, and career opportunities.

What:

Digital Skills for Women is a free 12-week, instructor-led program with an estimated value of $1,500(CAD).

Material Covered:

The content for each cohort will be slightly different based on the cohort members and their application feedback. However, topics that may be covered include:

  • Digital marketing strategy
  • Social media marketing
  • SEO
  • Content marketing
  • Privacy
  • Blockchain
  • UX/UI
  • Analytics
  • Cybersecurity
  • Databases
  • Website strategy

When:

Start Date: The Fall 2020 application is now closed, stay tuned for the 2021 programming announcements.

Six Sessions: Three-hour meetings will be held on Saturdays from 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM. 

Location: Halifax, NS

Why:

Our goal in hosting Digital Skills for Women is to make learning accessible to individuals who are passionate about exploring careers in the digital/tech/IT industry.

Digital Skills for Women Guidelines

Priority for this program will be given to individuals based on their background and application. Digital Skills for Women reserves the right to ask participants to leave the program if they violate any of the guidelines of the program.

  • The program is designed to build on the knowledge gained in previous sessions. Individuals who miss one or more sessions may be asked to leave.
  • Supplementary course work may be necessary to solidify learning that takes place in the sessions.
  • Digital Skills for Women promotes diversity and inclusion in every aspect of our business. Disruptive or offensive behavior will not be allowed.
